Are you new to dispute resolution or looking to build a strong foundation in how disputes are managed within the Visa payments ecosystem? This course offers a comprehensive introduction to the end-to-end dispute process, giving you the knowledge you need to confidently assess, process and resolve disputes. 

This course follows Visa University’s blended learning model, combining self-paced study with live instructor-led sessions. Learn more about blended learning. 

The course begins with two weeks of self-paced learning. Start by exploring the foundational four-party model and the transaction lifecycle — authorization, clearing and settlement. Learn how disputes arise within these stages and how they are processed across different transaction types.  

Next, dive into the structure and application of the Visa Rules. Learn how to navigate the rule document, identify rule updates, and apply rules to real-world scenarios. You’ll explore the four dispute categories — fraud, authorization, processing errors and consumer disputes — and examine each dispute condition in detail.

Continue by gaining insight into fraud mitigation tools such as EMV chip technology, 3D Secure (3DS), tokenization and real-time decisioning. Learn how these tools impact dispute rights and responsibilities and how to use them to reduce risk and improve accuracy.

Conclude the self-paced portion of the course by reviewing how Visa Resolve Online (VROL) supports dispute processing and how to use it effectively. 

During the live sessions with a Visa University trainer, you’ll work through hands-on case studies and interactive activities to reinforce your learning. These sessions include regional considerations, reflection exercises and action planning to help you apply what you’ve learned to your day-to-day work.  

Upon completing this course, you’ll return to your role with a solid foundation in dispute resolution and the confidence to navigate the Visa payments system effectively.
